Nestled in the Mendip Hills, sits Winscombe Court, a Georgian manor house and family home for the generations. Steeped in history and wonder, the two-acre site has evidence of prehistoric (Iron Age) residency but more recently, links to the medieval church of St James’s across the road.

We bought Winscombe Court in 2018 with a view to relocating our family to Somerset. Its proximity to multiple nature trails and country walks, Cheddar Gorge, the beaches of Weston and Burnham and the beautiful village of Winscombe presented a serene and relaxed alternative to our London life. With ten bedrooms, an abundance of living space and a magnificent dining room (that used to be an 18th century ballroom), it was perfectly set up for our frequent extended-family gatherings. The tennis court, swimming pool, snooker room, tree-house, multi-layered gardens and croquet lawn enhancing the attraction for all generations.

Over the next four years, we attentively and lovingly redecorated and renovated the entire home to sustain its historical charm and architectural grandeur but also to inject a sense of fun, form and function to enhance our own and guest experience. We converted the outdoor pool to a luxury indoor spa facility with 30 degree heated pool, hot-tub, sauna and changing facilities. We paid homage to the surrounding countryside by creating an expansive lawned roof terrace with putting green and the home interiors and furnishings, acquired from a wide range of sources from antiques fairs to contemporary interiors are carefully aligned to the house motto of ‘adventurously traditional’.

When the world changed in 2020, so did our plans to relocate. However, it only enhanced our aspirations to make the home a salubrious venue for our wider-family escapes and enable other similar groups to enjoy the exclusive experience of Winscombe Court. We look forward to welcoming you.
